This blog draft has been sitting in the queue for quite some time now. It’s funny how hard blogging can feel when there are so many other “have tos” on my list. I don’t always have all the words or feel like I have time to commit to it. So here we are, a LONG time after this trip occurred, blogging about it.
January 2019 I got to fly to San Francisco and spend the weekend with some very dear friends of mine. Jon and Sheralee are just a power couple if there ever was one, but above all they are Christ-centered, wonderful people who I have the pleasure of being friends with. I flew out for the weekend and we spent the day Saturday all over the Bay Area sightseeing, they are such gracious hosts! The main reason I was there was to take pictures of their family, their daughter Adeline was turning one! They have added a baby boy, Hudson, to their family this year and Adeline has grown SO much, so it’s wild to see how outdated these pictures of their family already are.
I love these pictures for so many reasons, the people in them being at the top of the list. I love traveling and seeing new places, it was a breath of fresh air to see a completely new surrounding through my lens. We mainly shot at Lovers’ Lane and Baker Beach. Remember on The Princess Diaries, the “Baker Beach Party”?? The trees at Lovers’ Lane are so stunning, it’s no wonder why its a famous location in San Francisco. Baker Beach was also pretty epic with its views of the Golden Gate Bridge. You would never know it but I photoshopped about a zillion people in the beach pictures. We finished our sightseeing tour at the Painted Ladies (think Full House) and Adeline got to smash her cake in the park near them.
Jon and Sheralee were living in Oakland at the time and for someone who lives in the country, I enjoyed experiencing city life for the weekend! We ordered dinner Saturday from their favorite local Italian place and the homemade gnocchi was out of this world. Sheralee and I walked to Whole Foods down the street for groceries; downhill on the way there was fun, uphill with ice cream on the way back was not.
This quick trip to San Francisco was one of the last big trips I took pre-covid. It feels like such a gift in hindsight, a gift I didn’t realize the value of. Sheralee and I talk all the time about me getting back out there, it might be time to buy the ticket.
