Late last summer Kevin and Britney met me at a couple of my favorite southern Alabama locations for the engagement session. It was one million degrees and they were such troopers in the heat. Britney and I were acquaintances in college but when she moved to Mobile for work a couple years ago we became good friends. Britney fills the room with joy and is all the things you could want in a friend.
I hadn’t officially met Kevin until the day we shot their engagements and I could tell immediately how head over heels he was for Britney. Their chemistry was effortless and the way he looked at her said everything I’d ever need to know about them.
Flash forward to December and their wedding day was finally here! I couldn’t believe how quickly those six months went. They got married in their hometown of Huntsville and had the most fun crew of friends and family surrounding them. I got to attend the rehearsal dinner and we actually threw axes at Civil Axe Throwing after we ate, because that’s what you do after your rehearsal dinner right? So fun!
The bridal suite was full of the most fun girls this side of the mason dixon. They danced, toasted to Britney, and just oozed happiness. It was so apparent how cherished Britney’s friendship is to these girls.
You might not know it from these images, but it was freezing cold and raining ALL day long! Riverside Events Venue in Huntsville is on the river and truly a stunning venue inside and out. Give me all the windows and natural light!
Sweet Pea Floral did an incredible job on all of the flowers and were such a joy to work with! They put together the most beautiful bouquets and a custom floral arch for the ceremony. It was breathtaking!
Kevin and Britney exchanged letters before their first look (love this!) and it was so special to witness them reading these words. They are such a connected couple and it is obvious how deeply they love each other.
Kevin also had a rowdy bunch of guys with him and they were having too much fun in their suite! One of his groomsmen told me his name was John and I called him John (obviously) all day. Turns out his name wasn’t John. I’m considering hiring an assistant on wedding days specifically to be a groomsmen handler. Anyone interested??
Britney did a first look with her dad and it was the sweetest! I am a big fan of first looks with dads.
How absolutely stunning is Britney?! I couldn’t imagine a dreamier bride and I think Kevin agreed with me. Teary grooms are the epitome of “all the heart eyes” as they say. They exchanged gift and clearly gift giving is Kevin’s love language. He gave her the most beautiful set of pearls with earring and a bracelet to match, which she decided to wear that day. Britney gave Kevin a beautiful leather journal with some heartfelt words inside.
Insert the wedding party and things went so quickly after that! Once portraits really get started it’s like the day gets put in overdrive. They had such a phenomenal group surrounding them!
This gorgeous venue gave us the most beautiful backdrop for the portraits, I absolutely love how these look. And what about the flower girl and ring bearer?! We had to coax (maybe bribe) to get them to stand close to each other and they reluctantly agreed.
It was finally time to get these two married, introducing Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Bowers! They were introduced and the dance party started pretty quickly after that. Kevin and Britney love Mexican food and that’s exactly what we had at the reception. It was delicious! Their cake was made by one of her bridesmaids, Rachel, who is incredibly talented. It was beautiful and delicious and I was so impressed watching her work that day!
The happy couple surprised everyone with a twist to their first dance and my goodness it was the best thing ever. They are such a fun couple and everyone loved their dance!
Sweet friends from far and wide filled the dance floor the rest of the night and I think it was their dream night come to life. A celebration of their love surrounded by family and friends on the dance floor. You’ll even find Britney’s mom in there somewhere! Kevin and his groomsmen performed the YMCA (in costumes!) and it was a crowd pleaser to say the least.
I can’t fully put in to words how fun this day was. All of the best things in life collected in to one day for Kevin and Britney and I was so honored to be a part of it. They finished the night with a kiss in their very own celebration tunnel, the perfect ending to their perfect day.
